When we think about our pantry we generally think food. With all there is to store in or near the kitchen, we shouldn’t overlook the pantry as prime real estate for storing non-food items.
More Pantry Design Tips!
Here are five pantry ideas that will change the way you think about utilizing your pantry:
1. Use the top shelves in your pantry to store serving pieces or dishes not frequently used such as wine glasses (wait, not at my house!), fine china, cake plates, punch bowls, etc.
2. With all the bulk shopping we do at Costco or Sam’s Club a “club pantry” just makes sense. Use the shelves to store excess rolls of toilet paper or paper towels.
3. Small pantries make great closets for storing cleaning products. Put the shelves above hip height and then you can easily slide your vacuum under the shelves for storage. The next kitchen spill won’t stand a chance!
4. Use your pantry as a space to get things done. Use a deep shelf at counter height to create a lunch packing station or morning beverage station. Store all the things you need to make your favorite cup of joe in the pantry right next to the coffeemaker.
5. Clear off counter space in your kitchen by storing small appliances inside your pantry. Choose an adjustable shelving system that will allow you to move the shelves up or down to accommodate the height of different appliances – your blender is a lot taller than your toaster so store them on different shelves to maximize space. Store the blender on the same shelf as the stand-mixer and store your toaster on the same shelf as the waffle iron.
Maximize storage space and rethink your pantry. Giving you pantry a fresh start might allow you to store your pasta closer to the stove top, now that sounds convenient!
